OTSC® System has been recommended in the new ESGE and ACG ulcer bleeding guidelines
The OTSC® System has recently been recommended in the new ESGE and ACG ulcer bleeding guidelines. Both guidelines are excellently summarized in two videos by Dr. Guzman-Calderon from Peru.
In the ACG guideline the OTSC® System is recommended for recurrent peptic ulcer bleeding.
In the ESGE guideline the OTSC® System is:
- Suggested for active bleeding ulcers (FIa,FIb) specifically those > 2 cm in size, with a large visible vessel > 2 mm, or located in a high risk vascular area
(Weak recommendation, low quality evidence)
- Suggested for persistent bleeding refractory to standard hemostasis
(Weak recommendation, low quality evidence)
- Recommended for recurrent peptic ulcer bleeding.
Only if a second endoscopic attempt fails TAE and as a last option surgery is considered.
(Strong recommendation, moderate quality evidence)
